Choir

Delaware Christian School provides various musical opportunities for students entering fourth to twelfth grade. We believe that the musical arts provide a creative outlet for diverse learners and lend yet another opportunity to use talents and abilities to glorify God. In addition, involvement in musical ensembles helps reinforce qualities such as teamwork and self discipline. Our three concert bands and two secondary choirs are under the direction of Mrs. Albany Witt.

Our Middle School Choir is composed of students in sixth through eighth grade. This group meets twice a week and enjoys performances at Christmas and Spring concerts and on occasion at various festivals and contests. Students develop their aural and sight reading skills and learn to sing in three and sometimes four part harmony. Diverse repertoire lends itself to lessons in rhythm, dynamics, pitch and other important foundations of choral music.

High School Choir is our premier choral ensemble featuring students from ninth to twelfth grade and meeting twice a week. Students have the privilege of performing music of varying genres throughout the year, including everything from a cappella pop, to Renaissance motets. Students are stretched to sing four part to sometimes six or eight part harmony and are exposed to diverse meters and rhythms found in our choral curriculum. The choir has various opportunities for performance throughout the year which include both Christmas and Spring concerts, graduation , as well as various festivals and contests. The choir joins the Eagle Band for a biennial music trip.
