The Delaware Christian School Theater Department is an opportunity for students to use their God-given talents to glorify the Lord both on stage and behind the scenes in the annual theater productions. Students involved in the Theater Department benefit from the many advantages of being involved in theater, such as developing self-confidence and creativity, fostering teamwork and collaboration and building work ethic and problem-solving skills. It also provides opportunity for leadership and mentorship between younger and older students as auditions are open for 6th through 12th graders. DCS does one production a year performed each spring. Recent productions include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Wizard of Oz, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Involvement in the Theater Department is an extra-curricular activity that holds rehearsals outside of school and requires an audition in January. DCS depends on student and parent effort for the various crews as well as costuming, make-up, set construction, and all aspects of the stage crew (lights, sound, and stage).
